Top Slovenian nautical innovations

It is interesting that although Slovenia has only 46 kilometres of  seaside, there are quite a few very interesting nautical innovations and companies that rank among the top of the list in their segment.

Greenline Hybrid

Greenline hybrid 33 is the world’s first production hybrid and solar powered boat. The superdisplacement low-drag hull that reduces the fuel consumption and the hybrid (diesel-electric) and solar powered drive systems make this beauty one of the most efficient boats in the world. Greenline is one of three brands (alongside with Shipman, carbon sailing yachts, and Skagen, world-girdling raised pilothouse motor yachts) owned and produced by Seaway Group. Seaway is the world’s leading boat development company founded and driven by two brothers, Jernej and Japec Jakopin.

Seascape 18

I could say that even Seascape 18 is a hybrid, not propulsion wise, but as an idea. This 18 foot sailing boat can be both, an aggressive match race boat in the morning and a beachable cruiser in the afternoon. There is even a strict one design class match race competition for the owners of Seascape. The driving force of Seascape are Kristian Hajnšek and Andraž Mihelin,  both very experienced Mini Transat sailors.

wFoil 18 Albatross

Is it a plane or is a boat? Nono of this two, wFoil 18 Albatross is a hydrofoil! I saw this beautiful piece of art at the Internautica Boat Show and I must say that it made a big impression on me. The concept is crazy, the engineering side is genius and the idea was brought into the reality with perfection. The enthusiastic team behind the wFoil Group comes from a small town situated at the foothills of the Alps – Kamnik.
