The day has come
October 21, 2012 - 2 minutes readFinally all the starts, planets and the moon are aligned in the right direction, and also the horoscope prediction is in my favor. That means I can finally start the hydrospeed descend I’ve had in mind since late spring.
Jokes aside, yes, the day has come. Tomorrow morning I will start the river board descend of the beautiful Soča river in the Slovenian Alps. A little bit more then 120km, for which I hope it won’t take me longer then 48h. I won’t sleep during this time and I expect it to be physically and mentally much more challenging then the row across the Atlantic. If not of other reason, because the “way out” will always be just a few meters away. I will have the possibility to quite at any moment and that’s not necessarily a good thing.
I’m excited and nervous at the same time, but also happy that it’s finally here.
Gregor Zadravec, a very good kayaker and photographer will be my shore support, driving along the river and be my babysitter for two days, and Bright Visuals guys will be filming the descend. On the dangerous section of the river (where many souls are resting in peace), I will have support also on the water. Andraž Krpič – Muki, my first kayaking teacher, will help me hold the line between the dangerous siphons.
Hopefully I will be able to Tweet during the descend. I have a new waterproof mobile phone – Sony Xperia Go, which is perfect for such an adventure.
Can’t wait to start!
