Communication from the field – talk at the Royal Geographical Society

November 22, 2012 - 1 minute read

I’m very honored that i had the opportunity to give a talk about Communication from the field at this years Explore 2012, the annual Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) expedition and fieldwork planning weekend.

It was the first time I visited RGS and I have to say that it’s a special feeling being being in the same rooms where some of the braves explorers in the world started their expeditions. Darwin, Shackleton, Scott, Livingston, Stanley, Hillary were all supported by RGS.

The weekend was a very pleasant one. A lot of good karma in one place and many aspiring explorers, hard core adventurers and top scientist under the same roof made the time fly by. The RGS staff was very helpful and everything was running smoothly.

My presentation and tips about different satellite communication network, compression software and mailing client can be downloaded here. Feel free to contact me if you need any help.
